The Deloitte Digital IoT practice had developed a remarkable multisensor concept motor that fed a set of predictive-failure algorithms, and approached us to develop an augmented reality tablet interface to help convey the value of all that sweet, sweet data. Matt and I jumped at the opportunity, but we were immediately struck by the limitations of an AR tablet experience. Fortunately we had recently procured a brand new HoloLens, and were pretty sure that hands-free mixed reality would beat tablet AR hands down. We took it upon ourselves to learn Unity and HoloLens development on the fly, as well as 3D modeling in Cinema4D. Turns out it’s tough to convey an MR experience in static rectangles, so check out the monocular live-capture video of the experience below (preferably in full-screen).
