Liverpool Sales Associate App

The largest retailer in Mexico didn’t necessarily have a problem in 2015. Business was booming, they were winning worldwide awards for their stunning architecture, and customers developed close relationships with their favorite sales associates. But those sales associates in many cases still relied on paper notebooks for annotations on customers, and in many cases the customers had better insight into the store’s products via the web than the associates did through their in-store tools. With a relatively small project team we developed a cutting edge (at the time) iPad-based point-of-sale tool for their associates to deliver the shopping experience their customers deserved.

The recent Liverpool brand rework was rather limited – with no official guidelines yet developed – so we took it as a challenge to create a new digital experience that lived up to the world-class architecture of their locations throughout Mexico.

The big idea of the Liverpool SA app was a layered navigation experience, rather than the traditional side-to-side push transitions of an out-of-the-box iOS experience. Relying on a “pinch to go back” interaction, this allowed us to use the sides of the view to hold the cart and filters. The engineering demo below does a good job of capturing the z-axis dynamic and interaction pattern.
